In this interesting TED talk Stephen Petranek discusses top ten threats for humans race. He also gives his solutions to rescue human race from these threats. As per Stephen, below are the top ten things that can result in extinction of human race form this universe.

Reversal of Earth’s magnetic field is an interesting phenomenon. Every few thousand years, earth’s magnetic field reverses, this means south pole becomes north pole and north pole becomes south pole. During this process there will be no magnetic field around the earth for a period of about 100 years. This is very dangerous as all the cosmic particles coming from sun and the universe that are currently being deflected away from the earth by it’s magnetic field, will hit directly hit us and we will be fried to death. It has been 780 thousand years since it happened last time and it is due in another 480 thousand years.

    hi!!!
    The topic “Reversal of Earths magnetic field”is an interesting one.But I want to that,if there is no magnetic field on the earth , it will move out of the orbit get attracted towards the sun,because sun has the strongest magnetic field in the galaxy.
