Celebrating 60 years of independence, google has made to easy to search in 14 indian languages অসমীয়া (Assamese), বাংলা (Bengali), ગુજરાતી (Gujarati), हिंदी (Hindi), ಕನ್ನಡ (Kannada), മലയാളം (Malayalam), मराठी (Marathi), नेपाली (Nepali), ଓଡ଼ିଆ (Oriya), ਪੰਜਾਬੀ (Punjabi), संस्कृतम् (Sanskrit), සිංහල (Sinhala), தமிழ் (Tamil), or తెలుగు (Telugu), .

You don’t need a special keyboard or software. To search in indian languages, you need to add a google gadget for your local language to your Google home page. I have added Telugu widget to my igoogle home page.
I searched for Trisha (త్రిష) I got these results

Google Search in Telugu

For Hindi, they offer a advanced tool where you can type in hindi using English keyboard and it will transalate to Hindi.

This service competes with the local languages search offered by Guruji.com. Guruji offers search in only in 4 indian languages (Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu). Searching in Guruji is easier because it atomatically translaates to local language when you type in English. When I searched for Trisha (త్రిష) I got these results.
